Trade Application Notes

AFNOR A110 - Orange is part of our Afnor Paint Colour Chart. Each order is mixed fresh using Lechler binders and colourants, so follow on orders are designed to sit neatly alongside earlier work for touch ins, snagging and small repairs.

  • Formats: 400 ml aerosols in 1K (ready to use), 2K (with integrated hardener) or 2K Air Dry, plus 1 litre tins, touch up pots and pens for fine detail and small areas.
  • Finishes: Matt, satin, semi gloss and full gloss options so you can match existing schemes, client specification or a particular maintenance schedule.
  • Surface preparation: For the best result we suggest degreasing, lightly abrading to a uniform key and carefully removing dust. Please choose a suitable primer for the substrate and environment.
  • Masking and protection: It is a good idea to protect nearby glazing, brickwork, signage and floor surfaces. Simple masking and sheeting can greatly reduce clean up time on busy sites.
  • Application control: The vari nozzle cap can be set to a wider or narrower fan pattern to suit the job. This helps with gentle edge control and can reduce unwanted overspray.
  • Overspray awareness: On external work it helps to think about wind direction and people passing close by. Temporary screens and a clear working zone can make application more relaxed.
  • Weather window: Choose a dry, clean surface and avoid conditions where rain or condensation are likely. Please follow the temperature and humidity guidance in the product data sheet.
  • Recoat and curing: Several lighter coats with the recommended flash off time usually give a smoother, more even finish. Allow time for full cure before any heavy cleaning or handling.
  • 2K products: 2K materials are for professional use and are best applied with suitable PPE and good ventilation. Mix carefully, respect pot life and dispose of any waste responsibly.
  • Equipment: Aerosol cans will usually perform better if kept at room temperature and shaken well before use. Tins can be applied using compliant spray equipment or with a fine foam roller and brush for edges.
  • Coverage and appearance: Gentle, even passes allow the colour and sheen to build gradually, helping to avoid runs, dry spray patches and patchy gloss levels.
  • Aftercare: Once coated, try to keep the surface free from tape pull, impact and aggressive wash down until the coating has had time to harden. Simple, mild cleaning products are usually sufficient.
  • Repeat orders: Batch information can be recorded so that future top ups can be mixed to the same colour and finish, helping return visits feel calm and predictable.

When paired with the correct primer this system can be suitable for many common substrates, including metal, correctly prepared plastics and timber. The aim is a smooth, reliable finish with good adhesion and stable colour under normal service conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

1K: Ready to use, quick to apply, good for light to medium duty projects, small parts and touch-ins.

2K: Hardener activated, higher chemical and abrasion resistance, better for exterior metalwork, shopfronts and high-traffic areas.

Rule of thumb: If durability, cleaning resistance or exterior exposure are key, choose 2K.

Use appropriate respiratory protection, eye protection and gloves. Ensure good ventilation. Follow the product safety data sheet for specific PPE guidance, especially when using 2K systems.

Tip: Work in well ventilated spaces and avoid spraying near ignition sources.

Pot life is the workable time after the hardener is activated. After this window the material thickens and performance will drop. Only activate what you can use within the recommended time.

Tip: Warmer temperatures reduce pot life, cooler temperatures extend it.

Often yes, if the existing coating is sound. Clean, degrease and abrade to a uniform key. Use a compatible primer where needed and always test a small area first.

Avoid: Applying over poorly adhered, chalky or reactive finishes without proper preparation.

Satin 30%: Popular for shopfronts and doors, balances appearance and cleanability.

Semi gloss 60%: Brighter look with good wipe-down performance.

Full gloss 90%: Maximum shine and improved cleanability. Highlights substrate imperfections more than lower sheens.

A 400 ml aerosol typically covers up to approximately 2 m² per coat. Tins applied with compliant spray gear may achieve higher transfer efficiency. Coverage varies with colour, surface profile and technique.

Tip: Keep the nozzle clean and maintain consistent distance and speed for even film build.

Please note: our paint is custom mixed and should be test-sprayed on a small, inconspicuous area before full application. We cannot accept responsibility for any colour difference once paint has been applied to your surfaces. If the colour is not accurate, please contact us to arrange a return.
