About our Paint Cans

BS 5252 24 E 53 Aerosol Spray Paint is part of the British Standard BS 5252 Aerosol Spray Paint Colour Chart. We batch-mix each order using high-quality Lechler binders and colourants to keep your colour consistent across aerosols and tins.

  • Formats: 400ml aerosols in 1K (ready to use) or 2K (with built-in hardener), litre tins, plus touch-up pots/pens.
  • Finishes: Matt 0%, Satin 30%, Semi 60%, Full Gloss 90% — choose the sheen that suits your job.
  • Extras: Add UV protection for outdoor work or a High-Resistance package for coastal/harsh environments.
  • Control: Vari-nozzle cap gives wide/narrow fan options with HVLP-style atomisation and low overspray.

The Lechler-based system offers reliable flow, adhesion and long-term colour stability across a wide range of substrates (use the correct primer where needed).

Frequently Asked Questions

1K: Ready to use, quick to apply, good for light to medium duty projects, small parts and touch-ins.

2K: Hardener activated, higher chemical and abrasion resistance, better for exterior metalwork, shopfronts and high-traffic areas.

Rule of thumb: If durability, cleaning resistance or exterior exposure are key, choose 2K.

Use appropriate respiratory protection, eye protection and gloves. Ensure good ventilation. Follow the product safety data sheet for specific PPE guidance, especially when using 2K systems.

Tip: Work in well ventilated spaces and avoid spraying near ignition sources.

Pot life is the workable time after the hardener is activated. After this window the material thickens and performance will drop. Only activate what you can use within the recommended time.

Tip: Warmer temperatures reduce pot life, cooler temperatures extend it.

Often yes, if the existing coating is sound. Clean, degrease and abrade to a uniform key. Use a compatible primer where needed and always test a small area first.

Avoid: Applying over poorly adhered, chalky or reactive finishes without proper preparation.

Satin 30%: Popular for shopfronts and doors, balances appearance and cleanability.

Semi gloss 60%: Brighter look with good wipe-down performance.

Full gloss 90%: Maximum shine and improved cleanability. Highlights substrate imperfections more than lower sheens.

A 400 ml aerosol typically covers up to approximately 2 m² per coat. Tins applied with compliant spray gear may achieve higher transfer efficiency. Coverage varies with colour, surface profile and technique.

Tip: Keep the nozzle clean and maintain consistent distance and speed for even film build.

Please note – Our aerosol cans, litre tins and touch up and repair pots/pens are custom mixed and should be tested before application. We do not take responsibility for any colour difference once you have applied the paint to your surfaces. If the colour is not accurate, please contact us to arrange a return.
