Which paint type should I choose (1K, 2K, 2K Air-Dry)?

1K is ready to use and suits lighter-duty jobs and touch-ups. 2K contains a built-in hardener for higher chemical and abrasion resistance on demanding surfaces. 2K Air-Dry provides 2K performance with a non-isocyanate hardener for easier handling. Note: our 2K aerosols are supplied as Acrylic Enamel only.

Do I need a primer, and which one is right?

Preparation is essential: clean, degrease and key the surface. Use the correct primer for the substrate: plastic adhesion primers for plastics, glass or fibreglass primers for those materials, and metal/etch primers for metals. Using the right primer improves adhesion and longevity.

How long does it take to dry, and when can I recoat?

For 1K, apply light passes and recoat after around 10–15 minutes; typical cure is about 30 minutes depending on conditions. For 2K, recoat after around 20–30 minutes, touch-dry is about 40 minutes, and full cure is usually 24–48 hours. Temperature and humidity affect all drying and curing times.

How much will I need (coverage & coats)?

A 400 ml aerosol typically covers up to approximately 2 m² per coat on smooth, primed surfaces. Most jobs need 2–4 coats depending on the colour, surface profile and the shade being covered.

Any tips for a smooth, professional finish?

Shake the can for 2–3 minutes and during use. Spray 15–25 cm from the surface in light, even passes with slight overlap. Keep the can upright and clear the nozzle with a short burst after use. Use adjustable fan patterns to suit the area and reduce overspray.

Can I spray indoors, and what safety should I consider?

Only spray indoors with excellent ventilation and appropriate PPE such as a respirator, gloves and eye protection. Protect surrounding areas from overspray. Refer to product data sheets for detailed safety and handling guidance.

Dulux Trade 50BG 12/219 - Hawaiian Blue 2 is part of the Dulux Trade Paint colour chart. We batch mix each order using quality Lechler binders and colourants so the colour stays consistent between aerosols and tins.
