Paint Primers - 1K/2K, High Build, Plastic Primer Aerosol Cans

Get a flat, durable base before colour. Use high build primer to level repairs, plastic primer or adhesion promoter to bond to plastics, and 2K primer when you need faster sanding and better solvent resistance. Clean, key and degrease first, apply light coats, then sand in stages for a smooth surface ready for basecoat and clear.

Primers FAQs

1K primers air dry and are easy to use. 2K primers use a hardener for higher build, faster sanding and better chemical resistance. Choose 2K for demanding repairs.

Bare aluminium and galvanised steels benefit from an etch or epoxy primer. Most plastics need an adhesion promoter or plastic primer before high build coats.

Typical sand times are 20 to 40 minutes for 1K and 15 to 30 minutes for 2K at room temperature. Start around P320-P400, refine to P600 before basecoat.
