About this Paint Colour

Meet Federal Standard 595 A-13591 - Yellow from the Federal Standard Paint colour chart, mixed fresh to order for reliable colour match across every format.

What you can choose:

  • Formats and sizes: 400ml 1K or 2K aerosols (2K includes a built in hardener), litre tins, and repair pots or pens.
  • Finish control: Matt 0%, Satin 30%, Semi 60%, Full Gloss 90%.
  • Performance options: UV protection for sun exposed areas and high resistance for busier, outdoor or coastal sites.
  • Spray quality: Vari nozzle for wide or narrow patterns, HVLP style atomisation and low overspray for a tidy finish.

Using Lechler binders and colourants helps achieve consistent flow, film build and colour stability on properly prepared surfaces (pair with the right primer).

Quick guidance: A single 400ml aerosol typically covers up to about 2 m² per coat. Most colours look best with 2 to 4 light coats, depending on the surface and the shade you are covering.

Please note: 2K aerosols are supplied in acrylic enamel only.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1K: Ready to use. Great for lighter-duty jobs and quick touch-ups.
  • 2K: Built-in hardener in the can for superior chemical/abrasion resistance on demanding surfaces.
  • 2K Air-Dry: 2K performance with a non-isocyanate hardener—easier handling, no separate activator.

Note: Our 2K aerosols are supplied as Acrylic Enamel only.

Good prep is essential: clean, degrease and lightly key the surface. Use the correct primer for the substrate:

  • Plastics: use a plastic adhesion primer (see our plastic primer).
  • Glass/Fibreglass: use appropriate glass/fibreglass primers.
  • Metals: use metal/etch primers; bare steel should be protected promptly.

  • 1K: Light passes; recoat after ~10–15 mins. Typically cures in ~30 mins (conditions dependent).
  • 2K: Recoat after ~20–30 mins. Touch-dry ~40 mins; full cure 24–48 hrs.

Temperature and humidity affect all drying/curing times—test first on a small area.

A 400 ml aerosol typically covers up to ~2 m² per coat on smooth, primed surfaces. Expect 2–4 coats depending on colour, surface profile and the shade you’re covering.

  • Shake for 2–3 minutes and intermittently during use.
  • Spray 15–25 cm from the surface in light, even passes; overlap each pass slightly.
  • Keep the can upright; clear the nozzle with a short burst after use.
  • Use our vari-nozzle’s wide/narrow fan to suit the area and reduce overspray.

Only with excellent ventilation and appropriate PPE (respirator, gloves, eye protection). Protect surrounding areas from overspray. See our data sheets for details:

Please note: our paint is custom mixed and should be test-sprayed on a small, inconspicuous area before full application. We cannot accept responsibility for any colour difference once paint has been applied to your surfaces. If the colour is not accurate, please contact us to arrange a return.
